日英交流史プロジェクトの論文集・第１巻。日本語版も『日英交流史』第１巻、東京大学出版会、２０００年として刊行されています。

本野英一氏（早稲田大学政治経済学部助教授）の著作。英中経済関係史ですが、日英関係史を考えるうえでたいへん参考になります。特に、民事訴訟から英中関係を浮き彫りにしようという手法は、見るべきものがあります。
